Summer Work and Travel Program

If you are looking for an extraordinary cultural exchange experience in the United States, AWE will help you put all the pieces in place to make your dream a reality. And you may have time at the end of your work placement to travel and see the U.S.

In order to participate on an AWE Summer Work and Travel Program, you must

  • be aged 18-28
  • be a bona fide full-time university student
  • have evidence of registration for a full-time course of study for the current semester.
  • provide a supportive reference, preferably from a previous employer for whom you worked within the previous 12 months. (This employment may have been full or part-time, paid or voluntary).
  • be available to work in the U.S. for approximately around 3-4 months.
  • be able to speak and understand English and have good communication skills.
  • live in or be able to travel to one of the participating countries for a personal interview with an appointed AWE Representative.
  • have a valid passport
  • provide a satisfactory Medical Report
  • have a valid email address throughout the time that your application is active.
  • attend an orientation in your home country before departure for the U.S.
  • have every intention of returning to your home country at the conclusion of the AWE Program.
  • be able to provide supportive documentation as proof of your intention to return when making your J-1 visa application.
  • complete on-line the AWE Application Form, sign the application form signifying your agreement for your application to be considered in accordance with the current AWE Terms and Conditions.
  • be enthusiastic, adaptable and flexible, have a good sense of humor and be ready for the adventure of your life!
